Received a citation? Check its deadline

Read the “On or Before” date on your citation and the Reply Form supplied with it. Do not calculate a different deadline from a general rule about ten days. The official court page explains the available response options and links the forms.

You can call the office to clarify procedures or dates, but a phone call does not count as an appearance. The court lists appearance in person, by certified mail or through an attorney. Follow your citation and any instructions or approved arrangements the court gives you.

How to pay a ticket or fine

Start at the City’s court page, choose Online Payments and then Pay My Ticket. The destination is Bruceville-Eddy Municipal Court on TrafficPayment. Check the court name and read the notice before searching for a citation.

The portal requires a space after the first two digits when searching by citation number—for example, 23 12345. Confirm the full amount owed with the court if you are unsure. Some cases require an appearance and cannot be paid through this portal; the restrictions are listed above its search form.

For other payment methods, the court accepts cash, cashier’s checks and money orders. It does not accept personal checks, ACH drafts, electronic checks, bank bill-pay checks or DOXO payments. Confirm mailing instructions with the office before sending a payment.

Your options on a traffic ticket

Paying a fine to resolve a citation has legal consequences. The court’s Reply Form explains the no-contest plea and rights waived with payment. Read it before paying, particularly if you want to contest the citation or ask about dismissal.

Driving Safety Course (defensive driving) or deferred disposition: ask the court about eligibility and request its approval before paying the associated fees. The portal warns that paying without prior approval can close the citation and cost you the opportunity to keep it off your record.
Partial payment: use this only after the court has put a payment plan in place.
Difficulty paying: ask how to have the judge consider your financial circumstances. Possible arrangements depend on the court’s decision.
Contesting the citation: follow the Reply Form and contact the court about the next procedural step.

Warrants

Contact the court before making an online payment for a warrant. Its payment service requires you to confirm the full amount due first and warns that an unpaid balance can leave a warrant outstanding. A search result or a partial payment is not confirmation that a warrant has been resolved.

Going to court

The City describes its regular court docket as once a month on Wednesday. Other hearings can have different dates and times. Check your citation or hearing notice and confirm your scheduled appearance with the office; an older docket on the website is not your next court date.

Hearings take place at 144 Wilcox Drive. Read the Local Rules of Court and Rules for Decorum linked on the official court page before attending, including the dress code and entry rules. Bring the documents required for your hearing.
